We have an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer to join our team. This position will provide an opportunity to develop the innovative technology that supports some of our nation’s most important defense initiatives. Kitty Hawk Technologies is currently seeking Systems Engineers with five (5) or more years of experience in support of Engineering Services to work in the Dahlgren, Virginia area. The Systems Engineer will provide program support for various components of combat systems and communication systems.

Responsibilities in this position include, but are not limited to,
– Works as part of a team with the Program Office and selected prototypes to monitor their progress throughout the prototypes rapid defense experimentation reserve lifecycle and conduct integration planning and assessments.
– Works with exercise planners to integrate prototypes into risk reduction, graduation, and joint exercise events with regards to O Plans, OPFOR, Logistics requirements
– Design studies and evaluations associated with research, development, production and operations.
– Review, comment, and provide technical advice on technical documentation submissions
– Provide operations assessments and recommendations on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
– Review and analyze system requirements and identify impacts to the appropriate requirements and/or design specifications
– Prepare required documents for the team
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision/oversight in a team environment.

WORK POSTURE
– Must be committed to working on-site at the KHT office or government customer facility. Flexible work arrangement may be available as dictated by customer support requirements.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
– Five (5) years of experience in operational / logistics planning applied to Navy/Joint warfighting systems.
– Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or related technical discipline.
– Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with eligibility for SCI or active TS/SCI is required – U.S. Citizenship is required.
– Effective oral and written communication skills. Proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
– Understanding of Joint (OSD Level) Exercise development
– Must be a quick learner who adapts easily to frequently changing requirements and thrives in an exciting environment.

DESIRED SKILLS
– Knowledge of Naval Surface Warfare programs and architectures
– Effectively contribute on teams developing rigorous analytic solutions
– Exercise independent judgment and work autonomously with minimal supervision
– Strong written and oral communication skills, the ability and willingness to multi-task, and capable of professionally addressing client questions and issues
– Programming skills associated with data collection, management and analysis are a bonus.

TRAVEL
• Travel is required for this position and includes at least five plus weeks of CONUS/OCONUS support.
