As a growing company, we are looking for a Financial Manager to join our King George, VA team and support our financial operations.

Position Overview:
The Financial Manager (FM) will be a key member of the Kitty Hawk Technologies’ team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company. The FM will manage the accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ensure compliance with government contracting regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented, strategic thinker with strong financial acumen and experience in the defense industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Management:
o Oversee and manage the company’s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
o Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
o Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to executive leadership.
o Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial planning to support the company’s growth and operational needs.

• Government Contracting Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with government contracting regulations, including DCAA audits, FAR, DFARS, and other relevant guidelines.
o Manage contract billing, cost accounting, and revenue recognition according to government standards.
o Oversee indirect rate development and submission, ensuring alignment with government requirements.

• Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop accurate and realistic budgets.
o Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
o Develop financial forecasts to support strategic planning and business development initiatives.

• Tax and Audit Management:
o Oversee tax planning and compliance, including the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
o Coordinate and manage audits related to government contracts, including DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) audits.
o Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
o Maintain relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.

• Cash Flow Management:
o Monitor and manage cash flow for government contracts, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations.
o Develop strategies to optimize cash management and working capital, particularly concerning government payments and reimbursements.
o Oversee treasury functions and maintain strong banking relationships.

• Team Leadership:
o Manage and mentor the Finance team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance.
o Collaborate with other departments to support company objectives and promote a culture of financial responsibility.
o Work closely with executives to ensure full understanding of short- and long-term organizational mission, focusing closely on how finance can support these missions.

• System and Process Improvement:
o Identify and implement improvements in financial systems, processes, and reporting, particularly in relation to government contract accounting.
o Ensure the effective use of financial software and tools to enhance productivity and accuracy, with a focus on government contract compliance.

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; master’s degree and CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting and financial management.
• Strong knowledge of government contracting regulations, including GAAP, CAS, DCAA, FAR, and DFARS.
• Experience with cost accounting, contract billing, and indirect rate development in a government contracting environment.
• Proficiency in financial management software and tools. Understanding of Deltek Costpoint is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and effectively.
