We have an opening for a Systems Engineer (BMD) to join our team. This position will provide an opportunity to develop the innovative technology that supports some of our nation’s most important defense initiatives. Kitty Hawk Technologies is currently seeking a Systems Engineer with seven (7) or more years of experience supporting Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) or Navy engineering activities in Dalhgren, Virginia. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Works as part of a team to support Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) ground test engineering activities
  • Supports the coordination of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) tool development, integration, and testing with developers and test agencies
  • Supports the Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) process to ensure M&S tools have defined pedigree to align with test authority requirements
  • Coordinates with program leadership and engineering teams to align engineering and test efforts to meet BMDS requirements and schedules
  • Coordinates with engineers to ensure system requirements and test-bed capabilities are aligned to support test and evaluation activities
  • Supports Risk Management efforts to identify, analyze, and minimize programmatic and technical risks
  • Prepares technical presentations, briefings, papers, and accreditation letters to support M&S and testbed authorization activities

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • US Navy operational experience as a Fire Controlman or Aegis Computer Network Technician (ACNT)
  • Working knowledge of Aegis BMD; Operational experience is preferred – Experience supporting fleet test and training events
  • Experience with modeling & simulation tools to support test and training objectives
  • Active Secret clearance – U.S. Citizenship is required.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or related technical discipline
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret (TS) clearance with eligibility for SCI or active TS/SCI
  • Experience with Surface Navy combat systems engineering activities
  • Ability to lead cross-functional engineering or integrated product teams (IPTs)
  • Experience with Systems of Systems (SoS) development, integration, and testing
  • Experience with the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS)
  • Experience supporting program offices (MDA/AB, PEO IWS, etc.) in an engineering role

Work Posture:

  • Must be committed to working on-site at the government customer facility

Travel:

  • Some travel may be required dependent on customer contract requirements

Job Type: Full Time
Pay: $95,000-$120,000 per year
