We have an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer (International Program) to join our team. This position will provide an opportunity to develop the innovative technology that supports some of our nation’s most important defense initiatives. Systems Engineer (IP) will provide Systems Engineering and Training Analysis (SETA) services in support of Center for Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) mission of providing system and platform specific the technical training, and tactical skill-sets, and combat systems training to our warfighters and international partners who operate U.S. manufactured systems. Kitty Hawk Technologies Systems Engineer (IP) works closely with SCSTC to develop and evaluate technical solutions in support of training and deployment of naval combat systems capability. 

Kitty Hawk Technologies is currently seeking a Systems Engineer with six (6) or more years of experience in Dahlgren, Virginia. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Performs high level engineering support for the International Programs Office (N7I) supporting training readiness for international partners
  • Assess USN baseline changes and apply surface ship combat systems knowledge and experience to determine training requirements and training impacts to FMS baselines
  • Considered technically competent on Aegis Combat System elements and applies knowledge to recommend changes in technical application and training requirements for FMS maintenance and operations courses taught by SCSTC
  • Develops and employs advanced methods to determine solutions of complex military system design requirements, development, and fielding
  • Evaluate system capabilities and limitations and provide recommendations to training based on specific country surface ship configuration or deviation(s) from parent USN baselines
  • Assess, review, and present findings to government staff, including system improvements and training recommendations

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have an Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to maintain that clearance
  • Must have at least 6 years of experience in the design operation and/or maintenance of complex U.S. Navy Surface Combat Systems
  • Must have demonstrated experience in designing and developing solutions to problems which enhance user functionality
  • Must have experience in the analysis of proposed changes on operators and maintainers to properly perform their duties aboard U.S. Navy Surface Ships
  • Must have experience in the analysis of recommended changes and in determining the impact on system readiness and user functionality
  • Must have experience in reading design documents, evaluating high level interface block diagrams, evaluating commercial equipment, part task trainer emulations and simulations for applicability to create flexible and cost-effective training and readiness capabilities

Desired Skills:

  • Recent surface ship combat system experience with emphasis in SPY-1D radar operations, maintenance, and training
  • Instructor Experience and MTS desired
  • Ability to apply surface combat systems knowledge to resolve complex problems and provide recommended technical and training solutions
  • Ability to communicate technical information in an understanding manner verbally and in writing
  • Experience with general Navy Surface Combat Systems and foreign disclosure operations, and information security process for classified material handling desired
  • Knowledge of U.S. releasability and disclosure policies and guidance preferred
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with government civilian, military, and contractor personnel essential

Travel:

  • Minimal travel required (10%)

Job Type: Full Time
Pay: $85,000 – $95,000 per year
